Pamela Nichols

about the artist

I am an artist.   I paint portraits, figurative, still life, and an occasional landscape.  My fine arts degree is in the field of music, so I now study recommended art books and instructional DVDs by accomplished painters whom I admire.  I have attended workshops taught by Daniel Gerhartz, Quang Ho, Johanna Harmon, Chris Saper, Mike Malm, Mary Rochelle Burnham, and online with Tina Garrett.

My passion is in  painting people. When painting a portrait, I strive to achieve a realistic likeness of the subject, while aspiring to portray the essence of the person's spirit and character.    I interview the subject, or in some cases loved ones, to gain any insight that might contribute to an effective representation of the person into whose eyes I will be peering for hours on end.  Thus far, I have found that there is beauty in every face.  It is always there!  With each portrait, I have come to know another human being and looked for the very best of that person.  It's a 'win/win" exercise!

Painting and singing feed my soul to the same degree. Take a listen by clicking here: Pam Nichols/Linda Gray duet:  Lloyd Webber's Pie Jesu.   I am the first voice you hear, joined later by LInda Gray, a performance degreed soprano, also my good friend and patron.

"Look for beauty in every face...It is always there."
